British Reining Team Selection Policy - updated

The updated Team Selection Policy is now on the website.  You can download the full policy and application form from the Team Selection Policy Page.

The aim is to choose the team and provide the preparation that will achieve the best possible results for Great Britain at the World Equestrian games in 2018. This process includes and involves the selection of a team to go to the European Championships this year.

In addition, talented combinations will be identified and wherever possible given the opportunities to progress particularly through competing internationally. Although the selection policy is specifically about 2017 and 2018 we are looking to develop potential team members into the future.

We are looking to select a team capable of achieving medal positions at the Championships this year and prepare a team capable of performing well at the 2018 World equestrian Games.

The two events under consideration currently are:

  • 2017 European FEI Championships, Givrins, Switzerland,  9th – 13th August.
  • 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG), Tyron, North Carolina, USA, September 10th-23rd.

The website has recently been updated.  The revised Council Page is now live and the Standings page has been updated with eligibility details.  

By request, the 2016 results have also been added back to the site.

The current standings includes the results from the 2017 shows. 2017 results (in full) will be published shortly.

Dear Members

At the last Council meeting we looked closely at the responses of the questionnaire and have addressed them with the following ineligibility criteria and additional classes.

The eligibility and point earning year runs from the first show held after the Championship Show weekend to the Saturday of the following Championship Show.

Results of the Membership Questionaire

Many thanks to the members who took the time to respond to the questionnaire that  was sent out by British Reining. It was much appreciated, as the main purpose of the association is to support the needs of our membership.

The results of the questionnaire were discussed at the BR Council meeting in January, and the following points were agreed :

To introduce a "Prime Time" year end buckle award (age 50+)

To introduce a "Select"  year end buckle award (age 65+)

To introduce a "Novice Horse Non-Pro" year end buckle award

To introduce a "Novice Horse Open" year end buckle award

To re-introduce BR Merchandise (Updated)

To hold "Ranch Riding" classes at the BR Spring Show 

The application for riders to be considered for team GBR selection has been changed - the initial fee will be reduced to £50. If the rider is successful a further fee of £250 will be paid. The amount raised will contribute to the costs of the competition.

The general concusses was that the members want a minimum of two pure Reining Shows a year.

A request was made to have a "For Sale" category on the website to advertise horses. This already exists but has not been supported.

The Year End Buckle Awards should continue in their present format 

i.e. Saturday night of the BR Championship Show

Notice is hereby given that the 2017 Annual General Meeting of the company will be held at Oakridge Arena, Newark on Friday 10th February 2017 at 6pm. for the following purposes:

1.To receive the report of the directors and the accounts for the year ended 2016

2.To approve the minutes of the previous AGM

3.To consider the income and expenditure accounts and balance sheet

4.To consider, and if thought fit, pass any resolution proposed by a full member before 15th January 2017

5.To re-elect members of council who, retiring by rotation as director under the articles of association and, being eligible, are offering themselves for re-election as director

6.To elect council members who, before 15th January 2017, have submitted a correctly completed nomination form and have subsequently been elected, where necessary, by a ballot of the members

7.To re-appointthe company's accountants until the conclusion of the next annual general meeting of the company at which accounts are laid before the members and to authorise the directors to determine their remuneration

8.If any British Reining member wishes to stand for Council, please request a nomination form from
