Results of the Membership Questionaire

Many thanks to the members who took the time to respond to the questionnaire that  was sent out by British Reining. It was much appreciated, as the main purpose of the association is to support the needs of our membership.

The results of the questionnaire were discussed at the BR Council meeting in January, and the following points were agreed :

To introduce a "Prime Time" year end buckle award (age 50+)

To introduce a "Select"  year end buckle award (age 65+)

To introduce a "Novice Horse Non-Pro" year end buckle award

To introduce a "Novice Horse Open" year end buckle award

To re-introduce BR Merchandise (Updated)

To hold "Ranch Riding" classes at the BR Spring Show

The application for riders to be considered for team GBR selection has been changed - the initial fee will be reduced to £50. If the rider is successful a further fee of £250 will be paid. The amount raised will contribute to the costs of the competition.

The general concusses was that the members want a minimum of two pure Reining Shows a year.

A request was made to have a "For Sale" category on the website to advertise horses. This already exists but has not been supported.

The Year End Buckle Awards should continue in their present format

i.e. Saturday night of the BR Championship Show

Looking forward to seeing you at the

British Reining AGM at Oakridge Arena on Friday 10th February at 6pm.

FEI World Reining Championships at the CS Ranch, Givrins, Switzerland

Update of the Senior Riders who will be representing their country in Switzerland in August 2016

This year we had six senior riders who achieved the CRI qualifications and applied for places on the team

The rules allow British Reining to send up to six senior riders to this event and after the trot-up-in Switzerland a team of four would have been selected by the Chef d’Equipe, Simon Barnes

The remaining two would ride as individuals for their country

Initially we had six senior riders as follows

(ladies first )

Francesca Sternberg

Jessica Sternberg

Then (alphabetical order)

Shane Borland

Josh Collins

Bruce Lawrence

Lee Rutter

Unfortunately there have been a number of lameness and horse related issues which has resulted in Francesca, Jessica and Josh withdrawing from the competition.

Therefore the team for the FEI World Reining Championship 2016 will be:

Shane Borland,

Bruce Lawrence

Lee Rutter

We are also pleased to inform you that we have two junior riders who have qualified for this event, and will be competing as individuals for Great Britain.

Fiona Howard and

Isobel Le Pla.

We are aware that we have a number of our members who will be traveling to Switzerland to support our riders. We have a list of hotels close the CS Ranch, so if you would like to join us at the show, please contact Peter Lane via the Contact page of this website.

Show update -

British Reining show update...The arena will be closed between 6pm and 8pm this is the last day of the filming by ITV before Katie Price and her children compete on Sunday.

Please try to arrive as early as possible to avoid any inconvenience and we will be running paid warm ups between 4pm and 6pm, and it there is demand we can continue after 8pm.

Some of you will be arriving on Thursday or Friday morning so we could run additional paid warm-ups for an hour during Friday before lunch if there is a demand Peter will be around so you can liaise with him.Weather looks good for the weekend so it should be a good show

The name of the Celebrity Reiner has been announced !!

We can now announce that the Celebrity is Katie Price.

Katie and her children will train with Doug Allen at Bodiam International  Arena the week before the

British Reining Spring Show. They will then compete in an unaffiliated reining class at the Show on

Sunday 8th May..

More information on Katie and the ITV reality show, can be found on Katie's website.

The British Reining Spring Show to be televised!

The ITV Television channel has approached British Reining to hold a Celebrity Reining programme which will be filmed at The British Reining Spring Show on Sunday 8th May.

They have not yet released the names of the participants, but you will be the first to know (hopefully early next week)

“The Celebrity “will be riding with five children, age range between 8 & 13 years and they all have riding experience

We have been given the OK to start organising this event. The format will be “The Celebrity” and the children will be coming to Bodiam the week before the show, and will be having lessons with Doug Allen, and hopefully they will gain enough experience to compete on Sunday 8th The ITV film crew will be filming the lessons and the competition on Sunday and the programme will be televised during the summer.

We need help in supplying horses for the young riders. If you have a trained reining horse that would suit a novice youth rider and you are not competing on it at the show and would like to see it on National TV, please give Peter Lane a call on 07711 414185. We would need the horse to be available from Wednesday 4th – Sunday 8th May.

This will be a unique opportunity to showcase the sport of reining on national TV. They will also be filming some of our members to show the public how it is done, so wear your best outfit –just in case!

When this news is released to the public we expect to have an additional number of spectators at the event, so the atmosphere should be good.
