A team of three British athletes have been announced by British Reining ahead of the European Championships in Aachen, Germany (14-16 August 2015).
The team boasts a wealth of experience, with all selected members having represented Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy last year.
The selected athletes are (listed in alphabetical order):
• Doug Allen (55) from Bodiam, East Sussex with Christine Brazeau’s Hangten Shiner
• Shane Borland (42) from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire with Lester Wilson’s Shiners Lena Oak
• Francesca Sternberg (51) from Bodiam, East Sussex with The Propane Company Ltd’s Ten Reasons
Chef d’Equipe for the squad, Simon Barnes commented on the announcement; “It’s very exciting. We’ve just had a team head out to the junior championships in Switzerland, which was really good experience for them. It’s very good for us to be heading out to compete at the Europeans and we’re all really excited. The team are thrilled to be representing Great Britain again this summer.”
The team of three contest the team event. There is a good deal of pressure as all three scores will count towards the overall team result; all three athletes also compete as individuals at the Championships.
The British teams are very grateful to the support they receive from official Team GBR suppliers Dodson and Horrell, Equi-Trek, Land Rover, NAF, NuuMed, Point Two Equine, Tagg Equestrian and Toggi
